(b) Write one artwork done by Artist Anguste. What message is he trying to give? (See Lesson-8)

Ans: Artist Auguste painted 'Moulin de la Galette' in 1876. The painting shows young people enjoying life, Picnics, dance and party. Renoir was a creator of soft, sentimental, and charming paintings. While painting he used his sharp observation to register the movement, atmosphere and images of Parisian society. He used shades of purple, white and blue tones to unite the modeling of figures spanks life in his painting. His works show tenderness and harmony. in perfectly balanced and lessened compositions. Renoir prefers to Paint group composition, portraits and female mode studies, He was expected to communicate the impression of joy through his paintings.

(b) Write the four main features of Degas Painting. (See Lesson-6)

Ans: The main features of Degas Painting are given below

(1) Most of the paintings by Degas are based on ballet.
(2) Paintings were on ballerinas dancing, and their Practising movement.
(3) Degas was different from other impressionist Painters because of his interest in human figures, but it is not in nature as of another impressionist.
(4) Degas’s painting technique earned him the title of impressionist artist, but he rejected it and favored to be called a realist.

3. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words.
(a) What are the motifs used in Kolam painting. Explain the method of Kolam painting. (See Lesson-3)

Ans: In the kolam patterns, many designs are derived from magical motifs and abstract designs blended with philosophic and religious motifs which have been mingled together. Motifs may include fish, birds, and other animal images to symbolize the unity of man and beast. The Sun, Moon, and other zodiac symbols were also used.

It used to be a matter of pride to be able to draw large complicated patterns without lifting the hand off the floor or standing up in between. The month of Margazhi/ Margasira was eagerly awaited by young women, who would then showcase their skills by covering the entire width of the road with one big kolam.

(4) He is widely regarded for his enchanting flower - landscape, river with boats, Sea Scape and rock Coast
(5) The Japanese Bridge across the pond acted as the central feature of the Paintings.
(6) In almost all these paintings, the sky was barely absent, but they freely painted its brilliant reflections in many vibrant colors to add extraordinary depth.
(7) The fresh blossomed lilies of various sizes add to the beauty of the painting.

(b) Write four Pioneers of Contemporary Indian Art and their contribution of the area of Art. (See Lesson-9)

Ans: Four pioneers of contemporary Indian art, are - Jamini Roy, Raja Ravi Varma, Abanindranath Tagore and Nandala Bose.
Jamini Roy

Jamini Roy: Jamini Roy is well-known for his modernization of Bengali folk-themed art. He depicted many elements from the Indian mythology in his arts, including the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Today, his style of Painting is extremely famous in north eastern India.

Raja Ravi Varma: Raja Ravi Verma was another Pioneer of the modern contemporary Indian art. He is well known for his fusion art style of European academic and Indian traditional. His artworks are extremely valuable, especially his portrait works. He is also considered as one of the best artists of India of all time.

Abanindranath Tagore

Abanindranath Tagore: Abanindranath Tagore was also famous for his unique artworks. But, he was also known for the foundation of the “Indian Society of Oriental Art” His Contribution to the Indian art Society, is still showing its active effects.

Nandalal Bose

Nandalal Bose: Nandalel Bose was also an exceptionally talented artist.
He is an especially talented artist. He is especially regarded as the pioneer of the modern Indian art. His modern approach to the Indian art Sector is still valued as a precious asset.

6. Prepare any one project out of the given below:
(b) Draw sketches of a table, pencil, flower vase, pencil box and book. These are available at your home. Take on 1/2 imperial size cartridge paper and arrange all these drawings into such a composition that expresses a relationship between each objects. Take care to show the elements of balance, harmony and rhythm in this composition.

Ans: Firstly, we draw a round table with help of a pencil. After that, we draw a flower vase that contains flowers. Then we draw a book and a pencil box with pencils. These are available at our home. We arrange all the drawings into such a composition that express a relationship. This composition show balancing of elements, harmony, and rhythm.
